Derek Branstom has over 20  years of backcountry and teaching experience. Derek is an avid rock climber, mountain biker, and backcountry skier. He teaches in our avalanche education courses.

Derek is an AIARE Avalanche Instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and AMGA Apprentice Rock Guide.  Derek works full-time as the Director of the Outdoor Leadership major at Colorado Christian University. Derek also works part-time as a NOLS Wilderness First Aid instructor. 

In his spare time, Derek enjoys mountain biking, international travel and mountaineering (has climbed Aconcagua, 22, 837" and several ascents of Kilimanjaro), rock climbing,
