This course is for every individual who regularly climbs in a single-pitch environment, currently over 18 years old, and has a year of sport and traditional climbing experience. This is the entry level course for anyone looking to enter the outdoor field as a rock climbing instructor, summer camp climbing wall instructor, or outdoor program rappel instructor. The AMGA SPI Curriculum focuses on the best practices for anchor building, group management, top and bottom belays, climber assist/rescue from above and below, rappel instruction, and overall professionalism and program risk management.

AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Course

This is the entry level course for anyone looking to enter the outdoor field as a rock climbing instructor, summer camp climbing wall instructor, or outdoor program rappel instructor. The AMGA SPI Curriculum focuses on the best practices for anchor building, group management, top and bottom belays, climber assist/rescue from above and below, rappel instruction, and overall professionalism and program risk management.

This course is for every individual who:

  • regularly climbs in a single-pitch environment
  • currently over 18 years old
  • has a year of sport and traditional climbing experience
  • can climb at least 5.8 on top rope
  • has completed at least 15 trad leads of any grade.
